We Miss You! Stay Tuned!

As hard as it is to believe, nothing 'Blog worthy has happened here in our world since Saturday. So if you have noticed a slight pause in posting, be assured it is only temporary. Tonight is our Awana closing ceremony and I hope to get some good pictures for you. Tomorrow is another day...and another post! Stay tuned.....:o)

Taking Care Of Business

Saturday morning, bright and early, Tim and Luke headed to the church to spruce things up for spring. Their mission: to restore the mulch to pristine order. Rumor has it that some of the ladies of the church are rather persnickety about the mulch. Good thing Luke was on the job!

Chip got there late, but he checked it out and pronounced it a job well done.

You know, a job is never completed until everything is cleaned up.

Finally, after lots of careful hard work, the supervisors were satisfied...
at least one of them.

It has been brought to my attention that people are hungry. Starving. Ravenous. And what are they craving? Simple. Cheesecake. That's right, cheesecake. But not just any cheesecake. Only my secret recipe homemade cheesecake will do. Apparently, there has been a request from my massive reading audience for CHEESECAKE ORDER FORMS here on the 'Blog. Well, your wish is my command, O Audience. Ordering a cheesecake is easy to do. See the comment option? Utilize it. Often. Then sit back and enjoy the sweet indulgence that can only be cheesecake. ;o)

It's That Time Of Year Again

Ah...spring. Balmy air. Birds chirping. Flowers bursting forth with riotous color and fragrance. The aroma of freshly mown grass. All glorious signs of spring...unless you find yourself stuck on one of these every week. That's right. It's the first mowing of the year.

Tim and Luke got busy right after church, pledging to fight the evil tall grass.

Nick, on the other hand, is a child who shows good sense.

Are These People Friends?!

Wow! I know...at first glance, it looks like a bunch of kids are trying to "get" the girl kneeling in front and I'm just benignly taking pictures instead of doing anything to help the intended victim. The truth is far more exciting! You are seeing our latest rehearsal for the "human video" our youth group is preparing. A human video is like a live music video. This one follows the relationship between the girl in front and Jesus, from her creation, to her separation from Jesus' pure love, and then her humble return. The kids trying to "get" her represent sins that separated her from Jesus: romance, alcohol, money, self-loathing, finally thoughts of hurting herself. Through it all, Jesus steadfastly waited for her to realize that what she needed was there all along: Him! Finally, she surrenders and prays to be forgiven. At that point, Jesus places himself between her and the sins that were only hurting her. She is free at last!! They are all doing a fantastic job! The human video will be performed, along with other awesome presentations, at the Club 52 Banquet which is Saturday evening, June 21. I hope you all can come. It's going to be something special.

Start 'Em Young

Around here, we like to start Game Boy training early.
It's practically a requirement of being a Thomasson.
Not everyone would think this is a good idea...

But when you get hugs like this,

you pretty much let them do anything they want.

Me Wantum Ba Ba

Here we have a very well preserved speciman of a bygone era...
the Indian chief.
Note the superior expression on his regal countenance.
Everything will be just fine assuming he gets everything he wants.

The Exterminator

Here's Tyler, trying out the latest style in face masks. It's all the rage on the coast.
Actually, Tyler is receiving oxygen to stop a cluster headache. I'd never heard of that treatment before, but was willing to try it. The neat thing is, it took the headache completely away! So, he got rid of his headache and I got a neat picture for the blog!

Who Knew Bible Study Could Be So Fun??

As you know, we always have fun. So it should
come as no surprise to learn that we had fun
yesterday at Bible study. We have joined a weekly Bible study that meets at Tamera's house. Everyone really enjoys it. First we eat dinner, so Luke is happy. Then the kids all play, so Nick, Tyler and Chip are happy. And the moms pray and study together, so I am happy!

It is great to grow closer as friends AND spend time studying what God has planned for us as mothers.

What a beautiful sunny day! The kids loved playing outside!

It was a wonderful afternoon. We can't wait til next Monday!

You've Gotta Try This Recipe!

I made a Cream Cheese Pound Cake for Bible study today and it was a real hit. I am too kind to keep such recipes to myself, so here it is.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake

2 sticks butter, softened
1 8-oz. package cream cheese, softened
3 cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
6 large eggs, room temperature
4 tsps. vanilla 3 cups flour

Butter and flour a 12 cup Bundt pan and set aside. Beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy, about 4 minutes. Add sugar and salt. Beat 10 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating until blended after each one. Beat in vanilla. Add flour and beat on low speed until smooth. Pour into prepared pan. Place in cold oven. Set temperature at 200 degrees and bake for 20 minutes. Increase temperature to 225 and bake for 20 more minutes. Increase temperature to 275 and bake for 10 minutes. Increase temperature to 300 degrees and bake until toothpick comes out clean, about 50 minutes to 1 hour longer. Cool cake in pan for 15 minutes. Turn out onto rack, cool completely.

This recipe is not only good, but fun to make! Let me know if you make it and enjoy it.

Just One More Picture...

Tim and All Those Boys looked so good on Easter I just had to share the photo. Thanks for your indulgence.

Some Bunny Special!

One of the things that I will enjoy the most about this blog is being able to share pictures with you. Here is our favorite Easter Bunny. It's not easy to get a picture of the Easter Bunny. They are rarely still.

Welcome to our Family Blog!

I am sure that lots of you have really missed the Solid Roots newsletter that used to grace your mailbox on a monthly basis. So now, just for you, we've decided to join the 21st century and create a blog! This way, when you can't sleep at night, you can fire up the old PC and come here for your dose of Thomasson merriment. I will try to update the site frequently and be sure to include lots of full-color photos! I'm so excited just thinking about it! So check back often for updates.
